Fred Ross Award for students of visual arts

Attention: NEW BRUNSWICK SECONDARY SCHOOL ART TEACHERS


The Shelia Hugh Mackay Foundation
now accepting applications for the
Fred Ross Award for students of visual arts

Applications are now being accepted for the Fred Ross Award. The Fred Ross Award is intended to acknowledge the remarkable career of Saint John painter Fred Ross, and to recognize his deep interest in helping artists of the future. This award is for students graduating from secondary schools in New Brunswick who intend to pursue post-secondary studies in visual art or craft.

The $4,000 Fred Ross Award ($2,000 per year for two years) is given to a student graduating from secondary school in New Brunswick who intends to pursue post-secondary studies in visual art or craft. If you know of a deserving graduating high school student who fits the criteria, please encourage them to submit an application.

Completed applications, with all support material, must be postmarked on or before the deadline date which is April 7th, 2008. Late or incomplete applications, or those submitted by fax or email, will not be accepted. The Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation, Inc. reserves the right to refuse applications that are incomplete or that do not follow the guidelines presented. A committee comprised of recognized art professionals will evaluate all applications.

The Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation, Inc. is a private foundation that promotes the creation of, knowledge of, participation in, appreciation for, and accessibility to New Brunswick’s visual arts and fine crafts. The recipient of the Fred Ross Award will be announced on April 22, 2008 and the award will be presented during the Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation’s annual Strathbutler Award gala at the Fredericton Playhouse on June 12th, 2008.
